Dr. Smith’s® Premium Parents Take the Big Apple for Premiere of “40 Weeks” Documentary
NEW YORK, December 2, 2014 – The pregnancy journey was celebrated on Monday night at the Angelika Film Center in New York City as Big Belli, the husband and wife production team of Christopher Henze and Dominique Debroux, debuted its new documentary “40 Weeks.” A trusted brand for the prevention and treatment of diaper rash, Dr. Smith’s® served as a supporting partner for the film that follows the lives of a group of real women from a variety of backgrounds throughout their pregnancies.
“40 Weeks” focuses on the weekly milestones of pregnancy and follows each woman as they deal with the normalcies of the process and also face unexpected setbacks. Filmgoers will get an insightful look at significant moments like hormonal changes, the first heartbeat, sonograms, announcing the news to friends and family, first kicks, preparing the nursery, and birth.
As a film sponsor, Dr. Smith’s® partnered with mom bloggers from across the country to promote the film and share their own pregnancy stories. Dr. Smith’s® Premium Parents Kathryn King and Claire Larson, moms, bloggers and longtime devotees of Dr. Smith’s®, were on hand at the “40 Weeks” premiere to take part in the festivities and share their reactions to the film with their followers and the Dr. Smith’s® online community.
“I loved so many parts of this movie and I felt like I could relate to most every moment happening on the screen,” said King. “I felt such a connection with these moms: the pregnancy brain that makes you forget you left your phone in the fridge; the 3am hunger rush; the gender reveal; the feeling of being half-way; getting the room ready; the home stretch.”
“If you have kids, if you are pregnant now, or if you’ve ever thought about having kids, I think that ‘40 Weeks’ is a great movie to watch,” said Larson. “I would have loved watching this when I was pregnant with my oldest. I think it would have reassured me that all of the things I was thinking, worrying, and feeling were totally normal.”
In addition to Dr. Smith’s®, the CitraNatal® family of products is also a sponsor of the documentary. The CitraNatal® and Dr. Smith’s® brands are manufactured in the U.S. by Mission Pharmacal Company, a third-generation, family-owned pharmaceutical company based in San Antonio, Texas.
“Dr. Smith’s® and CitraNatal® are natural partners for the ‘40 Weeks’ film,” said Allan Avery, Mission Pharmacal, Director Consumer Marketing. “We are honored to be associated with this documentary and share in the journeys of so many families. As a company, we have been committed to caring for babies before and after they are born for more than 65 years.”
