How to Prevent Diaper Rash

You may find comfort in knowing that diaper rash is very common. No matter how hard you try to prevent it, diaper rash can show up on even the most vigilant parents. There are a few ways to prevent diaper rash from cropping up, though:

  1. Keep it dry. Diaper rash comes around when skin gets too much moisture for too long. So, the best defense is a good offense.
  2. Change diapers often. And make sure they’re absorbent enough to do a good job.
  3. Air it out. When you’re changing baby’s diaper, take a few extra moments to be sure it’s clean and dry before putting on a new diaper.
  4. Use a treatment like Dr. Smith’s® Diaper Rash Spray or ointment every day for preventative purposes. Even if you don’t see any signs of diaper rash, applying a barrier like this can protect baby’s skin and keep moisture out.
